Conditioning by “Points of Focus” – Recenter your attention and regain your mental balance

[Appendix: Conditioning by “Points of Focus”]

In moments of high intensity, an athlete can easily lose control: a mistake, a distraction, or external pressure is enough to unbalance the mind. Yet, martial arts have long taught the importance of a body focus point, a key area of the body that allows one to return to oneself, to stabilize posture and restore concentration.

The technique of conditioning by “Points of Focus” is based on this simple yet powerful principle: choose a body landmark (such as the center of gravity, the nape, or the scapular area) where one brings their attention to neutralize distractions and stay on course while in action. This method allows one to reduce stress, regain balance and re-engage the mind quickly and effectively.

Why is this module essential?

In competition, it is common to become mentally scattered: excessive pressure, an unexpected event, or simply a drop in concentration can lead to a loss of fluidity and precision. The conditioning by points of focus helps to:

  • Stabilize concentration : By returning to a body landmark, the athlete recenters their attention and avoids intrusive thoughts.

  • Limit stress : Focusing on a bodily sensation diminishes the impact of external distractions.

  • Enhance emotional control : Regular practice allows the recentering to become a reflex, usable in critical moments.

With this technique, the athlete learns to not get carried away by emotions or disruptive events, but to regain control through a concrete physical anchor.

What you will learn in this module

  1. Identify key areas of the body that will serve as focus points (e.g., center of gravity, nape, scapular area).

  2. Condition your mind to bring attention back to these points in case of distraction or stress.

  3. Practice simple exercises to transform this recentering into a quick reflex.

  4. Use these focus points in competition to maintain a high level of concentration and emotional control.

Who is this module for?

  • Individual athletes (boxers, judokas, runners…) who want to master their concentration in the face of distractions.

  • Sports teams (basketball, handball, football…) who wish to improve performance consistency by helping each member stay focused under pressure.

  • Coaches and trainers wishing to teach a quick and effective recentering method to manage stress and mental fatigue.

Why choose this module?

  • A practical and concrete approach : The focus point is a simple landmark that any athlete can use immediately.

  • A direct impact on performance : The ability to quickly recenter helps avoid mistakes due to distraction or stress.

  • Proven exercises : Based on practices from martial arts and dynamic relaxation, these exercises create a physical anchor and stable mind.

By adopting this technique, you develop a lasting mental stability , a resilience to the unexpected, and an emotional mastery in critical moments.

No longer let distractions or emotions unbalance you in action! Discover how the technique of conditioning by “Points of Focus” can help you maintain your balance, keep your concentration, and optimize your performance in any situation.
